Sufi shrine at Thangal Para Vagamon

Thangal Para, located at Kolahalamedu near Vagamon in Kerala, is a revered Muslim pilgrimage site and a scenic viewpoint perched at an elevation of 2,500 feet.

While its religious significance draws thousands of devotees each year, especially during the Uroos festival, the location also offers breathtaking panoramic views of Vagamon and its lush surroundings.

The site centers around a massive spherical rock that holds the tomb of Husrath Sheikh Fariduddin, an Afghani Sufi saint who lived and meditated here around 800 years ago.According to local legend, the saint used a small stone as a pestle to grind his paan (betel leaves), and after his death, the stone miraculously grew in size, forming the present-day sacred rock.

A small, steady stream of water emerging from the rock’s crevices—persistent even during the hottest summers—is considered holy. The peaceful atmosphere and spiritual aura of Thangal Para make it not only a destination of faith but also a place of tranquility and reflection.

Surrounded by misty hills and grasslands, it’s an ideal stop for pilgrims, history lovers, and nature enthusiasts alike, combining spiritual heritage with natural beauty.
