Surrounded by lush greenery, it offers a peaceful setting for prayer and scenic treks.

Muruganmala, also known as Murugan Para, is a serene hill located just 2 kilometres from Vagamon in Kerala’s Idukki district.
Situated on the eastern side of Kurisumala, it is home to a small yet spiritually significant rock-cut temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy. Perched on a solitary rock, the temple showcases ancient Indian rock-cut architecture and attracts devotees and tourists nationwide.
Reaching the summit rewards visitors with a cool breeze and panoramic views of misty hills and valleys blanketed in lush greenery. On clear days, soft, cotton-like clouds drift by at eye level, creating a magical and meditative ambiance.
Muruganmala is a favourite among nature lovers, photographers, trekkers, and pilgrims seeking peace and inspiration. The trail, though relatively short, offers a fulfilling trekking experience with spiritual significance.
The best time to visit is from October to April, when the weather is pleasant and the skies are clear. It is advisable to avoid the monsoon months, as the path becomes slippery and risky. Muruganmala stands as a tranquil blend of spirituality, scenic beauty, and cultural heritage.
